$125 Ticket for Playing a game or sport in roadway

So It all began the other Friday when after a busy morning of work I went to grab a bite to eat. My usual pizza joint was packed, so I skated down to Queen St to grab a far less superior slice from another place. After getting my lunch, I skated along Queen St. then up my street. As I pulled up to the curb in front of my house I turn around and there was a bicycle cop asking for ID. "Did I do something wrong officer?" I ask. "Can't Skateboard on the street" she says, "It's illegal".
Remaining calm I ask her how this can be as I have skated in the city for almost 20 years and there has never been a problem. "Well I guess today is not your lucky day then" she says as she pulls out her ticket book. I continue to ask questions about why I would never heard of this or why would nobody have mentioned it to me before as I skate by cops all the time. To which her reply was "We

East York Skatepark

The East York Skatepark is a small community park, which has been made possible by Team EY and all the involvement of the skaters of East York and their supporters.
Working together since 1998, dealing with local councilors and mega-city political changes, the skaters of East York finally secured money from the city in 2005 and the park was completed spring 2007.
Jim Barnum (the designer) and Eric Meunier (who did all the smooth concrete work), worked with EY skaters though the construction process and created a park that provided the local skaters with the terrain they wanted.
The result is a street area bordering on plaza style and a tight 5’-6’ figure 8 bowl. The street area consists of a Pier 7 manny pad, Commerce Court style multiple 3-sets, some larger sets, various rails and ledges, different sized hubbas, a long banked ledge (“The Wave”) and two granite caped ledges: one down the double set and one over a grass gap.
This park is always busy with

DUNBAT Feature

DUNBAT has become a house hold name in southern Ontario. Designed and built by Rob Poyner, DUNBAT is the only wooden City of Toronto run park. Every year Rob changes a park obstacle or two, keeping it fresh with the trends, and to accommodate locals as best he can. There are lights until eleven and in the heat of the summer the night sessions are banging. All the crews and peeps show up to get their skate on and if you’re lucky enough to be there you can catch a sick session every night. These night sessions have inspired Leigh Lichacz to film this DUNBAT feature. This is a little Piece of Peace. Skate for life!

The Rail SkatePark

I was fortunate enought to checkout the Rail Skatepark tonight for the first time and was happy to see a skatepark done right. Lots of great obstacles strategicly spaced out to make for great lines. The Staff were super friendly and quickly fixed my bearing at no charge when I blew it out. I would highly recommend this park if you are ever in the area or in need of a place to skate on a snowy night like tonight.

CONS Skate Shoes and Adrift Skate Shop held a best trick contest at DUNBAT, called CONSTEST. Thanks to Wes Loates there were three obstacles that you could win $500 on, the long ledge, the loading dock ledge, and the 6 foot mini ramp. Although there was a little rain the contest turned out successful. So this is how the day unfolded. Check it out!!!

So Hip it Hurts is a Skateboard, Snowboard & Surf Shop located in the heart of Downtown Toronto. Their friendly staff and vast selection of gear is probably the reason why they have been around for over 20 years. If you are looking for Supra shoes in Toronto or any other hard to find brands, So Hip has the gear you are looking for. Also you never know what celebrity you may run into while you are there as they often seem to stop by.

Shred Central has been around since 1998 when ownership was changed from the old park known as Rampsterdam. The name came from Canada's famed punk group The Dayglo Abortions who wrote a song about a place where all the skater punks hung out. The park has gone threw many changes over the years but has maintained it's attitude and commitment to keeping things real for Toronto's only indoor skate park. All proceeds generated are used to repair and maintain the skate park. Shred Central is designed to give kids and adults a much needed place to skate, hang out and listen to good music when the weather is awful. Shred Central is small but it's a BMX /Roller Blade free zone which helps keep accidents low and the ramps in fare condition. Shred Central is owned and opperated by skaters only with absloutely no help from the city or major corperations. Shred Central is commited to having a safe and fun place for everyone to skate.
